Job Summary

The Field Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of field operations and office activities within their assigned area. This role involves launching and managing field programs including door to door canvassing and petition circulation efforts, training and supervising organizers, managing organizer performance including evaluations, and analyzing field data to make strategic deployment decisions. The Field Manager will ensure the effective execution of field plans, uphold quality control standards, foster a productive and motivated team environment, and ensure the safety of organizers in the field. This position plays a critical role in the campaign's success by ensuring high-quality voter contact and operational efficiency.

Position Details and Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day office operations to ensure a productive environment for organizers.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of organizers: including recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management (including evaluations), and ongoing development.
  • Launch and manage daily canvassing operations which could include , ensuring teams are effectively deployed and equipped.
  • Implement field strategies and voter outreach tactics as directed by the Regional Field Director, monitoring progress towards goals.
  • Manage field data effectively: utilize data-driven tools (e.g., VAN/MiniVAN, eQual, reporting tools) to analyze field activities, track progress, ensure data quality and accuracy from organizers, and inform strategic deployment decisions.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of organizers in the field by implementing safety protocols, providing necessary resources, and addressing any concerns promptly.
  • Maintain strict adherence to reporting standards and provide regular updates to the Regional Field Director on team progress and challenges.
  • Ensure all field activities adhere to organizational campaign policies, messaging guidelines, and legal compliance requirements.
  • Assist in coordinating local events, canvasses, and other campaign activities as needed.
  • Foster a positive, motivating, and inclusive team culture that values all members and their contributions.
  • Address logistical needs for field teams, including materials and supplies.
  • May assist the Regional Field Director with office maintenance, supply ordering, and vendor coordination to support staff needs.

Qualifications

  • Work Experience & Education Level:
  • Minimum of 2 cycles of experience in field organizing for electoral campaigns, issue advocacy, or ballot initiatives, or a similar role involving direct staff management and fieldwork.
  • Proven experience in staff recruitment, training, and direct supervision.
  • Experience with executing field plans and meeting targets.
  • Familiarity with data-informed field practices, including using field tools (like VAN/MiniVAN), tracking metrics, and basic data analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or a commensurate level of experience is preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes:
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in using campaign technologies (e.g., Votebuilder/VAN, MiniVAN) and virtual communication tools (e.g., Zoom).
  • Adaptability and flexibility, including the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage changing priorities, and work irregular hours (evenings/weekends) as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
  • Culturally competent with experience or willingness to work with BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and marginalized communities, fostering an inclusive environment.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Reliable access to transportation and willingness to travel within the assigned region as needed.
  • Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, physical mobility for door-to-door canvassing and other field operations, and lift up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations will be considered.

Additional Job Specifications

  • Job Classification: Full-time, Exempt, At-will (To be confirmed, mirroring RFD structure)
  • Compensation: $5,000 - $6,250 monthly commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications
  • Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental, PTO and paid holidays, 401K (To be confirmed, mirroring RFD benefits)
  • Work Schedule: Primarily weekdays with some evenings and weekends. The daily schedule is flexible and will be determined by the needs of ongoing projects.
